Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Oil for frying
- Sugar and cinnamon for coating
Instructions
- Mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Combine the sourdough starter, milk, eggs, and melted butter in another bowl, whisking until smooth.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the doughnuts and let them drain on paper towels.
- Toss them in sugar and cinnamon while warm.
- Serve immediately with coffee or tea.

These doughnuts are best enjoyed fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
