Description

Tender and flavorful doughnuts made using sourdough starter, perfect for cozy weekends and family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Oil for frying
  • Sugar and cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Combine the sourdough starter, milk, eggs, and melted butter in another bowl, whisking until smooth.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the doughnuts and let them drain on paper towels.
  7. Toss them in sugar and cinnamon while warm.
  8. Serve immediately with coffee or tea.

Notes

These doughnuts are best enjoyed fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
