Description

A delicious blend of sweet and savory flavors wrapped in tender, juicy steak, perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • lb sirloin steak (or ribeye, strip steak, or tenderloin)
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil (or your favorite cooking oil)
  • For garnish: Sesame seeds and chopped green onions (omit sesame seeds for AIP)
  • 1/2 cup coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil (or olive oil for AIP)
  • 4 garlic cloves (peeled)
  • 1 pitted medjool date (or 2 tsp maple syrup for non-Whole30)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • Optional: 2 tsp gochugaru (Korean chili pepper flakes) – omit for AIP

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting the steak into 1-inch cubes or bite-sized pieces and place them in a resealable bag.
  2. In a blender, combine coconut aminos, toasted sesame oil, garlic cloves, medjool date (or maple syrup), and fresh ginger. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour the marinade over the steak in the bag, seal the bag tightly, and massage it gently to coat each piece evenly.
  4. Place the marinated steak in the fridge to marinate for 2 hours to overnight for maximum flavor.
  5. Once marinated, remove from the fridge and drain the steak, discarding the marinade.
  6. For stovetop method: Heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak bites, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  7. For air fryer method: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Add steak bites to the basket in a single layer and cook for about 8-10 minutes, shaking halfway through for even cooking.

Notes

Marinate steak bites a day ahead for deeper flavors. Slice against the grain for tenderness. Store leftovers airtight in the fridge for up to 3 days.
