Description

Delicious brownies made using sourdough starter discard, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sourdough starter discard
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Combine the melted butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Stir in the sourdough starter discard until fully incorporated.
  5. Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the brownies cool in the pan before slicing them into squares.

Notes

For neat squares, use a hot knife to slice through the brownies easily.
