Description

A comforting casserole with layers of tender potatoes, savory beef, and creamy goodness, perfect for chilly evenings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (halal)
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite cheese)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a mixing bowl, stirring until well mixed.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with half of the ground beef mixture and half of the soup mixture.
  5. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the layers. Repeat the process with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the potatoes are tender.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot!

Notes

Assemble the casserole a day ahead and refrigerate. For lighter options, substitute the ground beef for turkey, or use dairy-free cheese and soup.
