Description
A comforting casserole with layers of tender potatoes, savory beef, and creamy goodness, perfect for chilly evenings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (halal)
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite cheese)
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
- 1/2 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a mixing bowl, stirring until well mixed.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with half of the ground beef mixture and half of the soup mixture.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the layers. Repeat the process with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the potatoes are tender.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot!
Notes
Assemble the casserole a day ahead and refrigerate. For lighter options, substitute the ground beef for turkey, or use dairy-free cheese and soup.
