Description
A comforting recipe featuring crispy chicken and warm, fluffy biscuits drizzled with sweet and spicy hot honey.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust for spice preference)
- Biscuit mix or additional biscuit ingredients (if not using a packaged mix)
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken breasts in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Prepare the dredging mixture: In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the oil: In a deep frying pan, pour enough oil to cover the bottom and heat it over medium-high heat until hot.
- Fry the chicken: Dredge each marinated chicken breast in the flour mixture and carefully place in hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Make the biscuits: Follow package instructions or mix biscuit ingredients and spoon onto a baking sheet. Bake until golden, around 15-20 minutes.
- Prepare the hot honey drizzle: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey and hot sauce, stirring until well mixed.
- Assemble and serve: Place crispy chicken on the warm biscuits and drizzle generously with hot honey.
Notes
For added flavor, marinate chicken overnight and store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
