Description

A rich and creamy layered dessert with chocolate and ricotta, perfect for cozy gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 (15-ounce) containers of ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box of chocolate or devil’s food cake mix
  • 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 (5-ounce) box of instant chocolate pudding
  • 3 cups of milk (cold)
  • 1 (8-ounce) container of whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Then grease your 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
  2. Combine the ricotta cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and 4 large eggs in a large mixing bowl. Blend until creamy and smooth. Pour this mixture evenly into the baking dish.
  3. Mix the chocolate cake mix, canola oil, and water together until just blended. Pour this batter over the ricotta layer.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Prepare the frosting by whisking together the instant chocolate pudding and cold milk until thick. Gently fold in the whipped topping.
  6. Spread the chocolate pudding frosting over the cooled cake and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

You can prepare the ricotta layer and chocolate cake in advance; frost it on the day you plan to serve for the freshest taste.
