Description

A delightful recipe for soft, golden pretzel pigs in a blanket, perfect for gatherings and chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of hot dogs
  • 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Mustard (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the warm water and baking soda until fully dissolved, creating a silky solution.
  3. Roll out the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and cut it into triangles.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with a piece of dough, ensuring the edges overlap slightly.
  5. Dip each wrapped hot dog briefly into the baking soda solution.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space in between.
  7. Brush each one with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with mustard on the side, if desired.

Notes

You can prepare the wrapped hot dogs ahead of time and store them in the fridge. Reheat them in the oven to restore crispiness.
