Description

A comforting and creamy pasta dish made with Italian sausage, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onions and garlic, sautéing until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  4. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes and heavy cream, letting it simmer for a few minutes until well combined and creamy.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta generously in the sauce.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil or parsley and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Make-ahead: the sauce can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
