Description

Delicious and creamy Sugar Cookie Bars topped with fluffy frosting, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter; softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 3 Tbsp. cream cheese; softened
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter; softened (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Pink food coloring gel (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9 x 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Beat together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and softened cream cheese, blending until combined.
  4. Slowly add in the flour and baking powder, mixing until a thick dough forms.
  5. Spread the cookie dough into the prepared pan, smoothing it out.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until light golden brown, then cool.
  7. Beat together the frosting ingredients in a medium bowl and add color if desired.
  8. Spread frosting over the cooled bars and add sprinkles.
  9. Cut into 16 square bars and enjoy!

Notes

These bars can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
